Sun gains 5000 new users
In one fell swoop.
ComputerWeekly.com is reporting that the Bristol City Council is dropping Microsoft and WordPerfect in favor of Sun Microsystems' StarOffice. (Bristol City Council spurns Microsoft for Star Office.)
That's in excess of 5,000 users for an annual savings of 2.5%. It's hard to imagine such a small savings making that big of a difference when you consider all those people having to take the time to learn a new system.
Sometimes, I think, government administrators relate dollar signs to efficiency as opposed to actual productivity.
