Make a printable calendar

As the year draws to a close, it's time to start thinking about next year's calendar. Instead of buying a calendar, make one yourself.

In WordPerfect 12 (and 11), start a new document.

To bring up the Perfect Expert, hit CTRL T.

In the dropdown list select WordPerfect.

Below that, in the list of choices, select Monthly Calendar.

Click Create.

If you haven't encountered this before, a warning comes up about PerfectScript Macros which ask the question, "Would you like to disable macros in this document?"

Click "No" since macros are used by the Expert to build your calendar.

This brings up the menu for "Calendar Information."

Tailor your calendar with the choices in the dropdown menus. Mine are:

  • First month: January
  • Year: 2006
  • Number of months: 12
  • Day of first column: Sunday

Finally, click Finished. This will build your 12 month calendar for 2006.

When your calendar is built, on the far lefthand side of the screen are choices to edit the format will appear. Play around with these until you get the calendar format you want.

Click Finish when your format changes are what you want.

At this point, I recommend saving the calendar.

Edit the calendar by typing in birth dates and special events in the corresponding date squares.

Save again.

Print the calendar.
