Corel on WP X3 and ODF
One more news quote about WordPerfect X3. This time, it's Corel's position on ODF:
However, this release does not support the vendor-independent OpenDocument format (ODF), contrary to earlier reports. "Our position is that our resources are best invested in file formats demanded by our customers," said Richard Carrière, Corel's general manager for office productivity. This means Microsoft and PDF compatibility, he added.

I don't recall having seen any reports that WPX3 would support ODF, but could be. Wishful thinking, definitely.
ODF is still new. The people I talk to in real life have never even heard of it. I do believe, however, that as more people and organizations become acquainted with ODF and its benefits, Corel will have no problem putting it in future versions of WordPerfect.
