File loss prevention - Timed backups

Continuing my series on file loss prevention. WordPerfect makes it easy to make automatic timed backups of your documents as you are working on them.

Navigate to Settings, and click on Files.

Under the Document tab, check Timed backup every.... I routinely set mine to perform a timed backup every minute (1).

To make sure you have quick and easy access to your backups, should you need them, be sure to select the Backup folder where you want the backups to go. If you haven't already created the folder, you can do so now.

This is an excellent and easy precaution to take should something happen, like a computer crash, power outage, or if your computer gets shut down without saving your current document. In addition, any documents you modified and have open in the background will also be backed up.

After such a shut-down, the next time you launch WordPerfect, you'll be prompted to open the timed backup document, at which time you can re-save it with a new file name.

EDITED to add: It is important to note that if you simply shut down WordPerfect, this backup gets removed, or cleared out. Thus, it is not retrievable. Just be sure to save your file before closing WordPerfect.
