Know what you're putting in your computer

File this under, "Never Accept Candy from Strangers."

The number of methods for infecting computer systems is growing. As recently reported by TechDirt (Your Employees Don't Care About Keeping Your Computers Safe):

The latest study involves a stranger on the street handing out CDs to random people, telling them the discs contained a special "Valentine's Day Promotion." It seems like that should be plenty to set off warning bells -- but many people simply went to the office and dropped the CD into their computers... where instead of a Valentine's Day promotion, it sent the researchers a note, including where the person was.

Some smarmy hackers could really exploit this. The free CD has great potential for infecting computers, installing key loggers, and steeling valuable documents and secrets, to mention just a few.

Just one more thing to watch out for.
