Corel acquires WinZip
As part of the recent IPO, Corel acquired the very popular WinZip application.
Reading around the net, some people seem caught a little off guard by the deal. However, the SEC filing which I linked to on April 5, 2006, prominently featured WinZip as part of the IPO.
Some people are not at all happy with the acquisition, starting with Ed Bott: Corel completes destruction of WinZip.
My personal zip utility is PowerArchiver and has been for years.
