OpenDocument plug-in for MS Office

This is very big news. And important. At the request of the State of Massachusetts, the Open Document Foundation has developed a plug-in for Microsoft Office.

I got a kick out of this line at the end of the Groklaw article:
So, to Microsoft: never mind. You don't need to lift a finger.

P.S. Corel, I think we're ready, now.

and what, pray, is ODF?

Tom: In my non-technical understanding, it's an open standard whereby different software platforms can be open, read, edited, and saved by each other. This is a big thing for word processors.
