Password protect an entire folder on your computer
UPDATE July 16, 2006: As of now, this is no more. See:
- CNET: Microsoft shutters Windows private folders
- Digital Inspiration: Google Breaks Into Microsoft WGA Protected Pages
Before update:
For those of us who love WordPerfect's ability to password protect documents, but want something more, as in the ability to password protect an entire folder, Microsoft has come out with an add-on that does just that.
However, you can only have one private folder per computer per user account. But, you can have multiple folders under that one.
Unfortunately, you must jump through Microsoft's Windows Genuine Advantage validation hoops to get to the download. (This is really starting to irritate me; but that's a topic for another day.)
Thanks so much to Amit Agarwal, our Digital Inspiration, for bringing this to our attention.

Requires WGA? Pass - I'll find an independent developer's superior version of the same utility if I *really* need it. ;)

Krupo, I think a lot of people are feeling the same way. This WGA is the most whacked out idea I've seen come out of Redmond since I don't know when. So, once I authenticiate, why do I have to keep doing it? Do they actually think I might uninstall my genuine Windows operating system, and replace it with a fake?
