From today's mailbag

Judy sends this question:

My computer has started using Word perfect as the default program to open all documents instead of allowing Microsoft word to open them. Do you have any idea where I can find the setting to undo this? I have tried and tried with no luck. Thanks

We don't know why Judy doesn't want WordPerfect handling her documents. But, mine is not to question why. Instead, I replied with:

  • On your hard drive, go to a file you want to have opened with MS Word.
  • Right click the file.
  • Select "Open With."
  • Select "Choose Program."
  • Scroll down to Microsoft Word and Select that.
  • Check the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."
  • Click OK.
  • That should do it.
  • Good luck.

And a few minutes later, she sent me a big thank you. So, that must have worked.
